November 17, 2014: Why I Do What I Do
January 28, 2015: Probate Terms in Plain English
The Probate process is the act of proving a Will in court, and then carrying out the directives of the Will by the executor.
Steps of the process may include:
-Obtain death certificates
-File Will in Court, if there is one
-Executor is appointed
-Creditors notified
-Decedents bills are paid
-Decedents accounts are closed
-Property is distributed
-Deeds are filed for real property (home, land, etc)
-Titles are changed for automobiles, etc.
Just as each persons life is unique, so is the probate of their estate. Some probates are quick if the planning was done properly, others are more complicated if there was no planning or the planning was not done correctly.
When a loved one passes away the grief, compounded by stress, can seem overwhelming. Strohmann Law Office will take you through each step of the probate process with respectful professionalism.
